Welcome to Swans Class. We have a mixture of Year 3 and Year 4 pupils and we have a classroom in the new building. Our teachers are Mrs Lambert and Mrs Russell.  Mr Marriott (Deputy Head) teaches us Computing and French on a Thursday afternoon as well. Mrs Thomas is our TA (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Collins (a Learning Support Assistant) also works in our class. We have some fantastic parent helpers who also help us with our learning and everyday school life.

We have daily Maths and English lessons and have enjoyed topics such as Ancient Greece, The Caribbean, The Romans, Rainforests and The Stone Age/ Iron Age. We have fortnightly ‘Learning Log’ homework and a ‘Times Tables Challenge’ on a Monday morning.

We have PE on a Tuesday and a Friday and whole class clarinet lessons on a Tuesday. Groups of children go swimming on a Thursday afternoon and we are looking forward to our tennis lessons at Bishop Sutton Tennis Club.

We have lots of class mascots because we have sponsored lots of animals! In the photo, you can see our main class mascot Snowy (a swan), Chip (a cygnet), Roary (a tiger), Panda and many more. We have a ‘Table Point Competition’ for fun each week and the winning table gets to look after Snowy for the week.

We love being in Swans!

See below to read the letter from Kate Murphy (LA) on our recent assembly

Dear Swan Class

Ms Lambert invited me along to your assembly today as my job in Bath and North East Somerset is to try to make sure children and young people are healthy, safe and happy at school. I am particularly interested in how school develop this work and how they promote the Ways to Well-being and other mental health initiatives.

Your assembly was one of the best I have seen in my 16 years of doing this job. You explained the 5 Ways very clearly, you gave very good examples of activities for each of the themes, you spoke very clearly and confidently so that everyone in the audience could hear and understand, and you obviously having a lot of fun. It was nice for parents and carers to hear these very important messages and I’m sure you’ll be taking them to other people in your family and friendship circles.

Thank you for all your work on this very important subject and I will be sharing your ideas with other schools.

Have a nice holiday.

Best wishes

Kate (Murphy)
