Welcome to Cygnet Class!
We are a kind and caring class of twenty-six year one children. Our teachers are Miss Price, Mrs Perry and Mr Marriott. Our brilliant teaching assistants are Mrs Bridge and Miss Benson.
In Cygnets, we have an inviting and purposeful classroom environment, including a role play area, reading garden and we are lucky enough to have an outdoor learning area just outside our classroom which we love using.
On Monday and Friday afternoons we take it in turns to be the teacher and present our ‘Show and Tell’. It is great for our confidence and is the perfect opportunity to practice our presenter voices.
In mathematics we like to learn through practical activities to ensure that we gain a deep understanding, before moving onto pictorial and abstract concepts. Our maths resources station is always open for us to access.
Our imagination is amazing. In English recently, for example, we have planned, acted out and written a class story based upon our key text. It involved our main character, Noah, exploring space and having tea with some aliens! We are proud of our learning and like to share it with others, so we will be reading our stories to Duckling class.
We follow a cross curricular approach in Cygnet class. The topics we will cover this year are ‘Giants’, ‘Race around the world’ and ‘Where my wellies take me’.
One day each term we go to Folly Farm and learn so many things about the seasons, plants and animals to support our science curriculum.
